Jocelyn got her first bed!

When our 5 year old refused to sleep in her own bed it was only because we as the parents allowed the habit to develop!
Taking ALOT of patience and resolve in order to now break this habit has been a rocky road.
We felt strong knowing that we'd stick to our plan once we made this hard decision. So the time came to sit down with her and tell her that we had to make a plan for her to help her sleep in her own bed.
Forever... we had a mattress of her own down beside our bed, but there she was right in the middle of us! How romantic eh? Well, I finally came to my senses when I was continuously being woke up on an hourly basis to push my daughter back in the center of the bed or being startled after getting smacked a time or two in the face or kicked right in the back of the head.

I took the initial step on looking around for beds. She had a nice mattress so all we needed to buy was the twin bed. I found a great deal off of CL of all places. A bed that was in great shape, needed NO TLC or work was nice. I knew it was the bed when I seen a picture of it and had to have it. Jocelyn and her daddy went into town to pick up the bed the next day. She was filled with so much excitement she could hardly stand it. Well... not as much as we as parents were!

So we got her bed all set up that night and I went all out to find her perfect bedding which I came across a great deal at Bed Bath and Beyond. Room in a Bag for 99 dollars. Included a comforter, 2 sets of sheets, 2 valances, bed skirt, 1 sham and 2 decorative pillows. You can't beat that deal. So the time came to go to bed and that little.... had made her bed in brothers room on the floor and that's where she wanted to sleep! I was so aggravated, but didn't want to show that to her as it was a really big step for her. So lastnight she finally, on her own crawled into her new bed and snuggled down into the blankets with her babies. Mommy and Daddy read her a book and comforted her until she drifted off to sleep.

Chyenne and I got up several times to check on her to make sure she didn't fall off the bed, we were prepared if she did by putting padding down on the floor, but she didn't fall, yeahhh. So I think we are finally over the hurdle and on our way to freedom in our bedroom. LOL

Here are some cute pictures of her and her new bed. Don't mind the wood paneling as that is coming down in the next few weeks. A little at a time right?!? Ha

Yay for adult bed freedom!!! You are a loving and sweet momma, and I hope you have a king size bed...lol, because my kids would have never lasted that long in our queen size bed.
Sweet dreams to all!
